The sacraments are sacred moments of grace in which we encounter God’s love and guidance.
Below, find brief descriptions of each sacrament and how to receive them at St. Alphonsus.

BaptismList Item 1
Infant & Young Children (Under Age 7)
Baptisms are scheduled monthly in both English and Spanish, except during Lent. Parents must attend a preparation class before the baptism Find the Registration Forms Below.
Children (Ages 7-18):
Children preparing for Baptism must participate in the Order of Christian Initiation for Children (OCIC) program.

Adults (18+)
Teens and adults seeking Baptism enter the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). Contact the Parish Office for more information

First CommunionList Item 2
Children ages 7-18: must participate in the two-year Faith Formation program to prepare for their First Reconciliation and First Communion.
- A copy of the baptismal certificate is required upon registration.
- A parent/guardian participates in classes once a month.
- Faith Formation Classes: Saturdays, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM.

For Adults (18+):
Adults preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation must participate in the OCIA program.

Confirmation
Students in grades 7-12 must enroll in the two-year Faith Formation program to prepare for Confirmation.
Requirements:
- Be in 8th grade or older.
- Provide copies of Baptism and First Communion certificates.
- Attend one retreat per year.
- Choose a Confirmation Saint.
- Write a letter to the pastor expressing your desire for Confirmation.
- Complete 20 service hours per year.
- A parent/guardian participates once a month.

ReconciliationList Item 3
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is regularly celebrated at St. Alphonsus:
Saturday:
8:30 AM & 4:00 – 4:50 PM or by appointment.
Parish Reconciliation Services are also celebrated during the seasons of Lent and Advent.

Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick offers healing, strength, and peace to those suffering from serious illness or preparing for surgery. At St. Alphonsus, we continue Christ’s ministry of compassion and care, trusting in God’s grace through prayer and anointing.
If you need to receive the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick prior to surgery or especially in the case of an emergency or imminent death:

A priest is always on duty to receive emergency calls after regular office hours.

Marriage
Marriage is a sacred covenant, a lifelong union of love and fidelity. At St. Alphonsus, we joyfully walk with couples as they prepare to enter into this holy sacrament, grounded in faith and guided by Christ.
Marriage Preparation at St. Alphonsus
- Contact the parish at least six months before your desired wedding date.
- One partner must be a baptized Catholic, and both should be free to marry in the Church.
- Couples participate in marriage preparation sessions and a pre-marriage retreat.
- A recent baptismal certificate and required documentation must be submitted.
- Wedding ceremonies can be celebrated in English or Spanish, with support from our clergy and staff.
