First Communion

This Is My Body

The holy Eucharist completes Christian initiation and brings about a more intimate union with Jesus. Catholics believe that this intimate union is necessary for the spiritual journey and for growth in the Christian life.

At St. Alphonsus Parish:

Children who are 7-18 years old and have received the sacrament of baptism must participate in the Faith Formation program in order to receive the sacrament of reconciliation for the first time. The preparation process is a two-year program. Upon registering, you must present a copy of the child’s baptismal certificate. This year (2023-24), the Faith Formation Program will take place on Saturdays from 10:00 AM-11:30 AM. Also, note that a parent or guardian is required to participate in classes once a month during the formation process.

For more information on children receiving First Communion at St. Alphonsus Parish, contact Viridiana Flores, Director of Faith Formation.

For those who are older than high school age or 18 years old, you will be required to participate in the OCIA program. For more information on adults receiving the Sacraments of Initiation at St. Alphonsus Parish, contact the parish office (763-561-5100/parishoffice@mystals.org).
